Bushmills is a very traditional distillery and its rare to see a new expression – this was the first to appear for almost five years! It's a sweet and buttery dram with lots of vanilla and cream, as you'd expect from its maturation in bourbon casks, with lots of first-fill in the mix. Red Bush is a blend of single malt whiskey and grain whiskey, all of which is triple distilled. The use of nothing but American bourbon casks, according to the distillery, is meant to position the whiskey as something that bourbon fans new to Irish will find approachable — though in all honesty it’s a fairly standard approach.
